The ohio association of foodbanks was incorporated in 1991 in a collaborative effort by ohio’s 12 feeding america foodbanks to stretch limited dollars through consolidated food purchasing. Master gardener volunteers from across ohio grew nearly 80,000 pounds of produce in 2020 statewide and donated it all to 101 food pantries in cities and towns across the state.

Ashland food project's green bag collections comprise about a 35 percent of our total contributions. Food recovery volunteers are necessary 6 days a week for food pickup and sorting. Please be aware all volunteers must have a criminal check done before volunteering. The foodbank offers a variety of volunteer opportunities and we accomodate all types of volunteers.

Work experience program (wep) participants can fulfill their requirements while gaining valuable job skills and experience through volunteer service at our warehouse. Volunteers are crucial to all operations of the greater cleveland food bank, whether in traditional roles (collecting, sorting, and repacking food that comes through our warehouse every day) or using special skills to support with administrative functions or special projects.
